The Traverse City DDA, in an effort to assist the rest of the City of Traverse City, is providing community development assistance to those areas outside of Downtown.  The 2007 Downtown Market Analysis  pointed out how Traverse City's loss of population hurts downtown, and how lack of attention to outlying commercial areas have crippled them, while downtown has prospered.  Bryan Crough is acting as the City's Community Development Director for one year from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.

The program is being evaluated and may continue in the future.
