Old Town Parking Deck

The Old Town Parking is Michigan's only LEED-Certified free standing parking structure (that would be LEED Silver!).  This project is part of an economic development effort that helped create over 100 new jobs and resulted in the net reduction of over 30,000 square feet of surface parking.

West Front Parking Deck

The DDA hired Rich & Associates to investigate parking deck options at 305 West Front.  The owner of that property is considering a private development project there and has offered to sell a portion of that property to the City for a public deck.  View the Rich & Associates report here.

North 200 Block Alley

The DDA hired a team led by Gourdie Fraser to facilitate planning and schematic design to improve the north 200 Front Street block alley.  Two property owner meetings have taken place and a general concept is being reviewed.  Another meeting is planned for late 2011.

The concept is of a pedestrian way with store frontage on the alley.  Outdoor cafe's and portable food vending could add to the activity in the alley.  Vehicluar traffic would be limited to loading.  The final report can be downloaded below.
