Parking Downtown is Easy!
Whatever your downtown destination, a parking space is conveniently available. Two and ten hour metered spaces along the streets and in designated lots make visiting the downtown and waterfront areas hassle free. Don't forget that many of these meters offer 30 minutes FREE for quick trips!
If you don't want to think about time on a meter, make the Larry C. Hardy or Old Town Parking Deck your parking destination. These facilities offer the most affordable parking rates in town - charging even less than the meter! Weekdays after 5 PM and all day on the weekends there is no fee from the months of September through May in the Hardy Deck. Free parking year round is also available on the first floor of the Old Town Deck, Monday through Saturday after 5 PM and all day on Sunday.

The first floor is accessable via the alley behind Maxbauer's and is OPEN 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Rates: $0.50 per hour, daily maximum of four hours.
Upper Floors are available to the Public seven days a week: 7:00AM - MIDNIGHT
Rates: $0.50 per hour, daily maximum of $5.00.

The Old Town Parking Deck is proud to offer several state of the art vehicle charging stations conveniently located throughout the parking structure. These charging stations are located on the first, second, and third floors. Contact Traverse City Parking Services for information regarding cost.

Whether you live Downtown and need a safe place to store your bike, or you can't find the extra room in your garage, our bike lockers are a great solution to add protection from both the unpredictable Northern Michigan weather and theft.

City of Traverse City Parking Ordinances
Overnight Parking
Ordinance 410.04, Section D
(i) From November 16 through the following April 14, vehicles found parked on any street or alley between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. may be towed at the owner's expense.
(ii) From April 15 through November 15, overnight parking between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. is allowed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings only on any street where parking is otherwise allowed....
Meter Violations and Meter Coining
Ordinance 484.04, Sections A-C
(a) ...whenever a vehicle is parked in the space adjacent to a parking meter, the operator of the vehicle shall activate the mete by depositing in the meter a United States coin of a denomination indicated on the parking meter legend... The parking meters must be activated from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday except holidays and except such other times or circumstances as designated by the City Manager.
(b) Overtime parking. No person shall leave any vehicle in any metered parking place when the meters must be activated for longer than the time idicated on the parking meter.... No person shall deposit or cause to be deposited in a parking meter coin for the purpose of increasing or extending the parking time of any vehicle beyond the legal parking time which had been established for the parking space adjacent to the parking meter. It shall be a seperate offense to park at a metered space for each period of time equal to the maximum allowed on the meter.
(c) A person who violated this section is responsible for a civil infraction subject to the fine indicated in Section 488.06.

(38) Parking beyond time allowed on meter - 7 or more violations within a one-year period (Codified Ordinance Section 484.04) will result in a fine of $75.00 per violation for the remainder of that calendar year.
