2026 Cape Seal Project

What is Cape Seal?

Cape sealing is a two-step pavement preservation process that combines two roadway surface treatments. The process is designed to extend the life of the roadway by approximately 7 to 10 years, and is part of a cost-effective maintenance strategy to improve streets without a full reconstruction.

What to Expect

Businesses and visitors should expect limited traffic and temporary impacts to access during the work. The contractor will work to complete each street segment as quickly as possible. All dates and times are tentative and subject to change based on weather and construction conditions. A third application, to paint traffic and pedestrian markings, will occur later this fall.

Businesses with on-street/platform seating are reminded that structures must be removed by the end of the day Monday, September 7th and remain off the street until after pavement marking is completed later this fall (date tentative).    

The work will be completed in two phases. Dates are weather-dependent and subject to change.
