It’s the gift for all seasons and all reasons! Downtown gift certificates are redeemable at restaurants, shops, theaters, and businesses in Downtown Traverse City*. We recommend confirming gift certificate acceptance in advance of your purchase. Downtown Gift Certificates should be treated as cash and any remaining balance returned to you.

Gift certificates come in denominations of $20 & $25. Add these up to give any amount that you’d like. You will get cash back on the amount not used.
You can also purchase gift certificates in person at:
- Downtown Development Authority: 303 E State St., Ste. C, downtown Traverse City. Typical office hours are 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.
- Independent Bank (cash or check only): 333 W Grandview Pkwy, Traverse City. Call (231) 995-5508 for bank hours.
Please keep in mind that the certificates come in $25 increments at the largest. If you have a large order of $1,000 or more, please call ahead so we can prepare it for you before you arrive: (231) 922-2050.
Each Downtown Traverse City gift certificate comes with an optional flyer that links you to a list of downtown businesses.
You can also add a customized message below that will be handwritten on a DDA card and sent along with the gift certificates.
IMPORTANT: GIFT CERTIFICATE SHIPPING & PICKUP
Orders over $500 must be picked up in person at the DDA Office.
- Shipping is not available for orders over $500.
All gift certificate orders are mailed via USPS and are not insured.
- If your order is lost, stolen, or damaged in the mail, the DTCA/DDA are not responsible for replacement.
Orders are mailed (but not insured) or available for pickup within two business days by USPS. Please note, online orders that are purchased for local pick up can only be picked up during our regular business hours. Our business hours typically run from 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, closed at times for meetings.

FAQs
- What goes in the “To” field?
Put the gift certificate recipient (the person who receives it, NOT the business at which it is being used) in that field.
- If I am a business, do I have to contact the DDA to enroll in this program?
Nope. Treat these certificates exactly as you would a check and deposit them with your bank. No need for any prior enrollment. Provide change to the customer if the certificate is higher than the purchase amount.
- Do they expire?
Yes, they expire after 6 years. Each certificate is marked with an expiration date.
- What if I found some expired certificates tucked in a book somewhere?
Bring them into our office and we can extend them for one month.
- Does every business downtown accept them?
The majority of retailers and restaurants accept these certificates. The only retailers who cannot accept them (though this list may not be exhaustive) are Lululemon, Fat Face, Union Street Station, Good People Hair Collective, Barrio, Truth Seeker Tattoo, Lume, Two Sons Pizza & Talbot’s. To avoid any issues, PLEASE CONFIRM BEFORE PURCHASE that the business will accept the certificates.
- Can I get refunds on gift certificates?
All sales are final. There are no refunds.
- When will my order be ready?
Please allow 24-48 hours, M0n-Fri, for local pick up processing and up to two business days to be mailed via USPS. (Orders are not insured if mailed.)
Gift Certificate Donations
If you are interested in a DTCA gift certificate donation, please review the policy and procedure. You will then need to complete the Donation Request Form. The DTCA needs 60 days advance notice for any donation request.
