We Believe in Keeping Our Community Connected
Complimentary WiFi for All in Downtown Traverse City
Complimentary WiFi has become an amenity for similar communities and the DDA hopes that this will keep the Downtown vibrant and current. Visitors to Downtown Traverse City may enjoy complimentary WiFi on their smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices. The Traverse City WiFi system is designed for outdoors. Are you getting our WiFi indoors? Lucky you! We are pleased that you are in a location where it has penetrated the building. Enjoy!

The Whole Downtown Traverse City Wifi Story
The Traverse City Downtown Development Authority (DDA) launched a WiFi system in the DDA District in December 2014. The DDA partnered with Traverse City Light & Power and Aspen Wireless in the installation of the program. In March, the DDA Board approved an agreement with Traverse City Light and Power to implement a complimentary outdoor WiFi system throughout Downtown Traverse City.
TCLP contracted with Aspen Wireless to supply, construct, and maintain the network. The system was designed not only to withhold the large volume of visitors Downtown Traverse City receives throughout the year, but it is also able to support municipal services like the new Pay stations.
All users will be directed to an initial landing page. MyNorth Media worked closely with the DTCA to create a design for the landing page that guides locals and visitors alike through the new WiFi experience. The new landing page includes maps, event information, and various advertising opportunities for DTCA members.
When asked about the new WiFi system, MyNorth Media Account Executive, Drew Warner, was excited about the launch. "We really hope we can create an online environment that highlights all that downtown Traverse City has to offer tourists and locals alike, while at the same time providing important resources right when users sign on; we want that to be at the forefront and easily accessible. We are very excited about the partnership and the potential that it creates to further our downtown, which has already undergone such an amazing transformation over the past several years”
